Global Bio Technology Innovation Summit
- Co-hosting the “INU–Johns Hopkins Bio Innovation Seminar” with Johns Hopkins University, and jointly organizing the “Global Bio Technology Innovation Summit”
- Expected to strengthen global research collaboration in advanced biotechnology and contribute to regional industrial development
Incheon National University (President: In-jae Lee) has joined forces with Johns Hopkins University, a world-renowned institution in the United States, to build a global bio-innovation network, aiming to play a central role in the bio industry, a strategic industry of Incheon City.
The INU RISE Project Group hosted the “INU–Johns Hopkins Bio Innovation Seminar” on December 2, and on December 4 participated as a co-organizing institution in the “Johns Hopkins Global Bio Technology Innovation Summit” held in Songdo, leading discussions on Korea–U.S. bio cooperation.
At the Bio Innovation Seminar held at Incheon National University on the 2nd, Professor Deokho Kim and Professor Jin U. Kang from Johns Hopkins University delivered presentations on “Human Organoids and Microphysiological Systems (MPS)” and “AI-Based Autonomous Surgery,” respectively, sharing the latest research outcomes and global trends. A total of 44 Incheon National University faculty members and students attended, engaging directly with world-class scholars in in-depth discussions.
The Global Summit held on the 4th brought together a wide range of participants, including major universities from Korea and the United States, national research institutes, global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and investment institutions, with Johns Hopkins University at the center. Incheon National University elevated its standing by participating as a co-organizer alongside key domestic industry–academia–research–government institutions, including the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, K-Bio Lab Hub, and Yonsei University. The event featured substantive discussions on cutting-edge topics such as organoids, AI-driven drug discovery, and precision medicine, as well as bio-industrialization strategies and global collaboration models.
This exchange and cooperation demonstrate Incheon National University’s strong commitment to positioning itself as a key player in the global bio ecosystem beyond the regional level, and to serving as an academic and industrial hub in advancing Incheon City into a world-class bio hub.
Jun-han Lee, Vice President of Incheon National University, stated, “Through this seminar and global summit, we have strengthened the foundation for collaboration with world-leading research institutions,” adding, “We will continue to expand global bio cooperation to contribute to establishing Incheon as a central hub for the global bio industry.”
Building on this collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, Incheon National University is expected to play a pivotal role in creating future growth engines for Incheon’s bio industry by expanding internationally competitive research collaboration in advanced bio fields such as AI-based drug discovery and precision medicine, and by fostering global talent.
