Students from the Department of German Language and Literature at Incheon National University once again achieved outstanding results at the “2024 National Undergraduate Short Research Paper and Video Content Competition,” held as part of the Blick um Blick (Meeting Eyes) event hosted by the Korean Association of German Language and Literature, the largest academic society in the field of German language and literature in Korea. The students received Silver and Bronze Awards in the UCC (video content) category and a Bronze Award in the undergraduate short research paper category, continuing the department’s strong tradition of excellence.
Blick um Blick is an annual event organized by the Korean Association of German Language and Literature to broaden interest in German language and literature and to foster the next generation of scholars. The awards ceremony for this year’s competition was held on Saturday, December 6, at Jeong Hasang Hall, Sogang University.
In the video content category, themed “Germany and My Future,” first-year students Hyun-seo Shin, Jin-je Yang, and Ji-hoo Jeon won the Silver Award for their work titled “My Beginning with the Department of German Language and Literature” (Advisor: Professor Soojeong Joo). Third-year students Da-hye Son and So-eun Lee received the Bronze Award for their video “Between Bread and Life: On the Rediscovery of Tranquility” (Advisor: Professor Je-hyeong Jang).
In addition, in the undergraduate short research paper category, fourth-year student Won-jun Seol won the Bronze Award for his paper titled “‘Human beings are not merely confined to the time within themselves’: Temporality of Modern Individuals and a Fulfilled Life, Based on Michael Ende’s Momo*.”*
Faculty advisors Professor Soojeong Joo and Professor Je-hyeong Jang commented that “this achievement once again demonstrates the high level of education provided by the Department of German Language and Literature at Incheon National University on a national scale,” adding that the awards are particularly meaningful as first-year students were also among the recipients this year.
